De-briefing on PATA Adventure Travel and Responsible Tourism Conference and Mart 2010

PATA’s new Adventure wins widespread industry praise
Industry leaders and government ministers have praised the success of the PATA Adventure Travel and Responsible Tourism Conference and Mart (ATRTCM) in Kathmandu, Nepal.

PATA has confirmed plans for a similar event in 2011 with potential hosts, including Nepal, now being considered in detail. “Initial reaction from delegates and speakers has been very positive.

The event has created an outstanding platform. PATA covered a broad range of issues pertinent to their shared objectives. The challenge now is to maintain this momentum.

Nepal’s Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Madhav Kumar Nepal, led his country’s support for the ATRTCM by praising PATA’s efforts and commitment.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony, to mark the opening of the Adventure Travel Mart, was performed by the Nepal Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, the Hon Sharat Singh Bhandari.

The event, staged at the Soaltee Crowne Plaza hotel in Kathmandu, had attracted 174 delegates representing 104 companies in 25 destinations.

Buyers
30companies, 30 delegates from 17 destinations
(Germany, Australia, UAE, Poland, Greece, Myanmar, UK, USA, Thailand, China, Singapore, Indonesia, Malta, Bangladesh, New Zealand)

Sellers
32 companies, 44 delegates from 5 countries (Nepal, Bhutan, China, Thailand and India)

Press and Media

Feedback from sellers, buyers, Press and media
Sellers and buyers provided feedback that they were happy with the conference and business discussion. But sellers were more specific on the quality of buyers and also to get more buyers. For this point as PATA could not confirm some buyers because of the problem on air support. So next year the improvement on the air arrangements for hosted buyers will increase on the no. of buyers.

The event was being hosted by Nepal Tourism Board in conjunction with the PATA Nepal Chapter.
